Middle Years Programme (MYP)

The insight and understanding to meet the challenges of increasingly independent learning.

Safe stepping stones.

Step by step, children are being guided to become more independent learners.

“Da Vinci’s Middle Years Programme ensures my daughter will be well prepared to face the challenges of Diploma Programme.”

Mrs Marzouki

Da Vinci is an IB World School offering the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP). IB World Schools share a common philosophy – a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education – that we believe is important for our students.

Students in the Middle Years Programme have the advantage of being taught by specialist subject teachers in their home classroom or in our specialist facilities such as the Art Studio and the Science and STEM labs.

This approach provides the students with a smooth transition from the Primary Years Programme to the more independent nature of the Diploma Programme, by significantly improving their individual learning and organisational skills, reinforced by dedicated study skills and careers programmes.

Each class has a form tutor who has a pastoral role and also maintains a careful overview of each student’s progress and well-being.

At Da Vinci, we place a strong emphasis on language learning. Across the Middle Years Programme, both Dutch and French are taught at levels ranging from beginners to proficient.

Much attention is paid to ensuring that all children are well prepared for the Diploma Programme and that they receive the education that is best suited to their level of ability.

CURRICULUM

ACTIVITIES

Cultural trips to Belgium’s major cities and other destinations extend our students’ field of discovery and offer the valuable insight that Belgium is a part of a wider Europe. Physical challenges are offered through our annual Sports Day and optional Ski Trip. Students also enjoy an annual residential field trip which offers an exciting mix of educational and recreational activities.

ASSESSMENT

Both informal and formal assessments are carried out regularly throughout the school year with exams taken at the end of each semester. Parents are always kept up to date about their child’s progress through progress updates, end-of-semester reports and parent-teacher meetings.
